Forge Art Foundation (FAF) is the nonprofit initiative of Forge Theater Labs, created to support the development of artists, new work, and meaningful engagement with the performing arts.

While Forge Theater Labs creates and produces original media and programming, Forge Art Foundation focuses on the charitable work at the heart of our mission: giving artists the time, resources, collaborators, and opportunities they need to develop ambitious work and share it with their communities.

Through artist development, commissions, staged readings, workshops, educational and public humanities programs, community partnerships, and live events, FAF creates space for experimentation—helping ideas move from conversation to development and, ultimately, toward the stage.

We believe supporting the future of theatre means investing in the people who make it. FAF centers the directors, designers, dramaturgs, playwrights, performers, and other artists whose work shapes what theatre can become.

Forge Art Foundation is fiscally sponsored by Portland Media Center. Donations are made through our fiscal sponsor and are designated to support the Foundation’s approved charitable activities. As Forge Art Foundation’s fiscal sponsor, Portland Media Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit orgnaization provides financial oversight and ensures donated funds are used for their intended charitable purposes.

• Artists get paid for their work — writers, directors, dramaturgs, designers, performers, and other collaborators.

• New work get developed — commissions, adaptations, workshops, readings, and pathways toward production.

• Pays for Rooms where art can happen — rehearsal, performance, recording, and community gathering spaces.

• Develop Programs for the public — performances, conversations, educational programming, and community partnerships.

• Provie the foundation for a stronger artistic ecosystem — connecting artists, organizations, and audiences while creating opportunities for work to grow.

Yes! Forge welcomes conversations about in-kind support, including donated materials, equipment, space, professional services, and other resources that can help bring our programs to life.
